About MORESCO II

Background

The MISAMIS ORIENTAL II ELECTRIC SERVICE COOPERATIVE, INC. (MORESCO II) was created pursuant to the provisions of the National Electrification Administration Act (R.A. 6038) as amended by Presidential Decree No. 269. Pursuant to this decree,  MORESCO II was incorporated and registered on October 1, 1976, being the 79th electric coop out of the 119 electric cooperatives in the country. The signing of the First Loan Agreement amounted to P15,680.000 was made on June 6, 1977, and the first town energized on June 25, 1978 was the municipality of Balingasag.

MORESCO II serves the power requirement of Eastern Misamis Oriental, with a coverage area encompassing the municipalities of Jasaan, Claveria, Balingasag, Lagonglong, Salay, Binuangan, Sugbongcogon, Kinoguitan, Balingoan, Talisayan, Medina and Magsaysay and the City of Gingoog.  MORESCO II’s franchise area covers approximately 150,000 hectares.

Formal operations of MORESCO II started on January 3, 1977 with an initial loan of P16.4 million granted by the National Electrification Administration (NEA). That initial investment enabled the coop to penetrate far-flung areas to serve power needs of people to afford them better entrepreneurial opportunities.

On June 25, 1978,  Balingasag town became the first area to have been energized.  Establishment of the MORESCO II backbone system immediately followed and was finished by October 26, 1980.

The coverage area of the cooperative is primarily served through six (6) substations; the 5 MVA Magsaysay Substation, the 10 MVA Gingoog City Substation, the 5MVA Sugbongcogon Substation, the 5 MVA Solana Substation in Jasaan, the 5 MVA Cogon substation in Balingasag, and the 10 MVA Agay-ayan substation also in Gingoog City.
